Bow Tie Pasta With Italian Sausage

Directions

Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.

1. Remove Italian sausage from casings; brown in a large heavy skillet, breaking Italian sausage up with spatula.

2. Remove browned Italian sausage to paper towels to drain.

3. Drain off all but about a tablespoon of the sausage drippings; sauté onions until soft; add minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

4. Add bell peppers and cook for a few minutes.

5. Cook tomatoes in the same skillet for about 4 minutes. If using canned tomatoes, add that with the liquid. 

6. Return Italian sausage to skillet with oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

7. Spoon sauce over pasta, toss lightly and serve. Optional: Sprinkle parmesan cheese on top
